Cup Success Continues

Our Year 7 girls made the 200-mile round trip to Telford to face Madeley Academy in the last 16 of the English Schools Cup last week.Ìý

Wickersley started brightly and took the lead within the first five minutes, with Lori Inman finishing from close range. Dana CopelandÌý then produced a magnificent double save to keep Wickersley ahead before Lily Jenkinson broke through on goal after some neat footwork, before putting the ball past the Madeley Academy keeper.Ìý

A third goal followed shortly after, courtesy of a wonderful strike from Summer Quinn, before Lori added her second of the game, once again from close range. This meant Wickersley went into half-time with a commanding 4–0 lead.

Midway through the second half, Lily Jenkinson added a fifth to secure victory and confirm that the Wickersley Year 7 girls’ footballÌýteam are through to the quarter-finals of the English Schools FA Cup.

The will play Valley Gardens middle school (North Tyneside) for a chance to make the English schools FA cup semi finals.
