Y12/13 London Trip

On Friday 4th July – marking the anniversary of the General Election – our Year 12 and 13 politics, history, and economics students travelled to London for an inspiring visit to the Houses of Parliament.

The day began with a guided tour of His Majesty’s Treasury, where students took part in a hands-on workshop. Taking on the role of Chancellor for the day, they faced the challenging task of managing public finances and making key decisions about national spending. This was a brilliant insight into the complexities of government.

Next, they explored the Houses of Parliament, with a guided tour that included visits to both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. To round off the day, students were invited to a Q&A session in a cabinet room with Rother Valley MP, Jake Richards. They asked thoughtful, well-researched questions on topics including the influence of action groups, political apathy, the conduct of MPs, toxic masculinity, and the structure of the political spectrum.

The students represented Wickersley Sixth Form with maturity and curiosity, showing professionalism throughout the day – we are incredibly proud of them.

Opportunities like this are part of Wickersley Partnership Trust’s Enrichment Promise, which ensures that all students across our Trust have access to a wide range of experiences beyond the classroom. Whether through trips, cultural visits, or extracurricular clubs, the Enrichment Promise is designed to broaden students’ horizons, raise aspirations, and support personal growth alongside academic achievement.

Well done to all involved!
