Four Wickersley students from across Y9-Y11 challenged themselves to take part in the Junior Astro Challenge competition from the British Physics Olympiad.听
The competition is designed to engage and challenge students of all abilities by offering them a range of problems to solve. The students were able to demonstrate their general knowledge in astronomy as well as their interest in the night sky. The key aim is that students enjoy taking part and are encouraged to learn more about astronomy.
On Thursday morning, Mr Hardcastle met with the students to award them their certificates and congratulate them for taking part and challenging themselves. All students did themselves proud, in a competition where they were challenged with knowledge beyond what they are taught in the classroom.
Lucy Prosser (Y10) went on to achieve a Bronze award. Samuel Thornton (Y9), Robyn Clark (Y10), and Amogh Nagendra (Y11) all achieved in the top 15% of candidates and each received a Gold Award
We are incredibly proud of all these students and hope that they will continue to pursue their interests in Physics and Astronomy!
